- Hey, Adrian, you mumbled somthing about Re: External A1200 keyboard on 27-Feb-
- 96 00:22:49?
- A> Hi,
- >>I was wondering if anyone knows if the A1200 ribbon cable can be cut
- >>over and be extended. Will the driver in the A1200 be able to drive
- >>it?
-
- It would be very difficult. If you look closely only about 5mm of the end is
- contact, to make any of the other contactable you'd have to peel back the
- plactic - very tricky. And then it's very difficult to get hold of the
- connector with the slide-grip (you need something like this as it would be
- impossible to solder the ribbon). But if you can do this i see no reason why
- the driver shouldn't be able to drive this, if good contacts are made (no
- sellotape and tinfoil!)
-
- If you're worried about soldering an external keyboard signal cable directly
- to a chip, try getting a plcc carrier and putting it upside down on top of the
- chip and soldering to that.
-
- A> And just to confuse the issue, is it possible to connect the CDTV keyboard
- A> to an A1200? Thinking about making a black mini tower.
-
- Yup! Completely compatible. I'm hitting the nice black keys on my CDTV
- keyboard to tell you this right now :) The pinouts are simple enough, it uses
- a mini-DIN plug instead of a DIN, and if you want the pinouts are listed on
- the online A1200T guide on Pure Amiga (caution - free plug alert)
-
- http://www.netlink.co.uk/users/PureAmiga
-
- along with all the rest of the info you need to build a A1200T.
-
- If anyone actually uses this can you try to drop me a mail with any comments,
- mistakes etc? Cheers
-
- Hope this helps
-
- Chris
